ADVENTurous is an open submission exhibition exploring the christmas narrative, which we're staging in 3 UK venues during advent this year : at Engedi in Colwyn Bay, Leftbank in Leeds and the Union Chapel in Islington, London.

The work exhibited at Union Chapel will also be part of the one-day ‘ADVENTurous' conference, hosted by Greenbelt Festival and partners.

On this blog we'll be posting regular updates about how plans for the Leftbank Leeds show are progressing, with information about the contributing artists, and possibly some previews of the work being created for the exhibition...

'Lines in Time' by Sara Heard

Sara is a fledgling artist and mum to a two year old boy.
She gave up her career developing children's play and education services
to study art in 2010 completing in March this year, this is the first time she has exhibited since.

This year Sara has been working to establish a new career designing, making and selling fun
things from textiles which supports the work she does at festivals throughout the country.
Her vision is to have a series of playful creative workshops that enable children and
families to share skills and strengthen communication, but also to keep making art for arts sake.
Sara has been challenged to work away from her preferred sculptural processes to offer us a
2D piece for ADVENTurous. Here Sara explores the concepts and meaning of Advent through the
use of simple line, pattern and form, with the intention of bringing a contemporary perspective
to the Advent period.

Her submission 'lines in time' is a textile piece that uses multi media and traditional and modern
techniques to generate each of the 42 panels or calendar dates which means it can be
sold as a whole or split.

Mixed media.
Price on request.
