ADVENTurous is an open submission exhibition exploring the christmas narrative, which we're staging in 3 UK venues during advent this year : at Engedi in Colwyn Bay, Leftbank in Leeds and the Union Chapel in Islington, London.

The work exhibited at Union Chapel will also be part of the one-day ‘ADVENTurous' conference, hosted by Greenbelt Festival and partners.

On this blog we'll be posting regular updates about how plans for the Leftbank Leeds show are progressing, with information about the contributing artists, and possibly some previews of the work being created for the exhibition...

'The Journey of the Magi' by Mike Maddox and Jeff Anderson

Jeff and Mike first worked together on “The Lion Graphic Bible”, an award winning graphic novel
version of the bible - Currently in 26 languages (That we know of).

Jeff is a professional comic book artist, who has worked for most of the major comic book
companies at one time or another. (He is also the only vicar to have drawn Transformers
comics for a living.) He lives and works as an artist in the  North East of England.
Mike is a writer from the home counties, who mainly writes audio plays these days. He’s written
for Radio 4, and is one of the regular writers for the  Doctor Who audio adventures.
This is Mike and Jeff’s first work together for a while.

‘The Journey of the Magi’ is a true story. On Christmas Eve 1968, 3 Apollo 8 astronauts flew
around the moon and read from the Bible. We’ve kept all dialogue as true to the original
NASA broadcast as possible.

The story of the 3 travellers, following the stars at Christmas just seemed too good to pass up.
